why we started
cúpla.
cúpla (the Irish word for twin) was founded by twin sisters Breffni and Aoife, who spent years watching small businesses struggle to get the visibility they deserved online. Not for lack of effort or talent; just not having the right support at the right time.
Breffni spent over a decade in marketing across in-house, agency, and freelance roles, working with some of Ireland’s most recognised brands. Aoife spent the same time building a visual portfolio that speaks for itself. Together, they cover everything a brand needs.
They founded cúpla because they’d watched it happen too many times. Brilliant small businesses and independent makers closing their doors. Not because their work wasn’t good enough, but because they couldn’t compete with the budgets, the teams, and the online presence that bigger players take for granted.Small businesses and artists are the backbone of communities like Waterford, and around Ireland. They shape the culture, they support our local economy, they bring the places we call home to life. cúpla exists to support them. To take marketing off their plate so they can focus on what they actually do best.
The name says it all. Two perspectives, one shared vision. A quiet nod to the Irish roots that shape how they work: direct, warm, genuinely invested, and never pretentious about it.
“we’d sit across from business owners who were brilliant at what they did and completely overwhelmed by everything else. that’s the gap we built cúpla to fill.”
— breffni, co-founder
“the businesses we work with aren’t just clients. they’re people who’ve put everything into something they love. that deserves to be seen.”
— aoife, co-founder
“we chose cúpla because it’s exactly what we are. two people, two skillsets, one vision. it felt honest.”
